Very unimpressed with paying to park in Sussex Uni only to have to push my disabled Dad all the way through the underpass and to the South stand.

To avoid the same problems on the return, I collected my Mother's car to meet them outside the ground only to be pulled over by Sussex's finest....

Upon explaining my predicament I was allowed to proceed being told I was fortunate not to be fined £200 and given 6 points for being in control of a car without insurance for 500 yards.

This could have been the perfect end to the perfect day, suffice to say I will be detailing this to the club on Monday.

Not a JCL, a season ticket holder in Lower East taking my folks to their first game at the Amex!...will I repeat the mistake?

Answers on a postcard please....am I the only one appalled at disabled access?

BTW, I did otherwise enjoy the nearly very expensive day out...

Isn't there a free shuttle-bus? Sure there was last time I heard.

Yes there is. Seems to have been a breakdown in communication here.

Why were you pulled over, what diverted the're attention from diverting the traffic to seeing a need to stop you?
What is the maximum distance you feel is acceptable to drive without insurance?
You have not given enough information for us to view the situation accurately.

The other worrying point, is that you said they let you proceed. I would be shocked if you were not insured to drive the car, that the police let you carry on

There are several disabled parking places, some at the uni, some in Bennetts Field, but you if you are not in the 1901 or a prepaid STH then you have to book in advance...think that the fact your carer goes in for free is worth the effort of pushing a wheelchair through the underpass....why were you driving a car uninsured.......madness!

Need Edna's input on that one, but at the very least the officer should be charged with neglection of duty.

So where did you check out the disabled parking and access prior to the game. Did you ring the club and ask or post a question on here ?

The Sussex uni car park runs shuttle buses for disabled people, I was impressed by the service myself.
