There's a story in the Standard today about a lardarse in Nebraska (had to be a Yank) who lost about 23 stone in weight – only to be told he still had to lose another 30-odd stone to have a chance of prolonging his miserable existence. That's because at the beginning he was...76 stone.
While you attempt to get your head round just how fat that is, spare a thought also for the guy at the moment when the doctor said: "I know you've lost 23 stone - well done. Only another 30 stone to go. Stick with the salad." I'm trying to shed a few pounds myself at the moment by cycling to work, and I think that would be quite demoralising.
