Did McIlroy throw a punch?

Did he? It looked like it from across the pitch where we were. He gave harding the ball for the throw in and followed through.
Hard to tell what happened then with everyone piling in. Great job from Roberts to cover the ground so fast and throw a few himself!
Seriously, if McIlroy did punch harding there must surely be some action taken, it's disgracefu.

The allegation on one of our boards is that one of your players called Ashley Willams (one of our subs) a black c**t and itall kicked off. No comment there on Sammy throwing anything though but apparently several of our subs got involved as did your sub keeper :nono:

Bye bye, we're down. See you in a few years :(

Also it seems there was trouble ourtside with the police using cs on our lads'. From what I can gather your lot weren't involved which is nice in a way.

I thought that |McIlroy shoved the ball at Harding excessively hard so that it winded him rather than throwing a punch.
Roberts certainly threw a few slaps around and seemed to be the only one who got booked out of the whole lot (lucky not to be red)

Difficult to see once all the players piled in, who was thumping who.

My husband has just said he though McIlroy held Harding's head down with his other hand after thrusting the ball.

I thought that McIlroy went to throw the ball at Harding but Danny was running so fast at him that it looked as if it followed through. An accident rather than an attempt to hurt him.

As for what happened afterwards, it was the usual handbags but Coco definitely went a bit loco and should have been red carded. Luckily the ref and linesmen were not really able to see what happened and so did not know who to punish

Roberts deserved a red - lucky man IMHO

Roberts should have been sent off, I thought El Abd was lucky not to as well.

Difficult to see from the far side of the pitch. What happened to NSC Albion today?

They got :drink:!

Rougvie wasn't able to transport half the team so we had to give it a miss.

What he did was no worse than what the rest of them were doing and shouldn't have been singled out. He actually appeared to be trying to get players away from what was a mass brawl. Under such circumstances he shouldn't have been given a yellow, let alone a red.

I think it is the fact that Roberts ran 50 yards at full pelt to get involved was seen as rather excessive !! :lolol:

Wasn't there, but this is all starting to sound like a repeat of Micky Adams early days here. Players getting wound up and looking after each other and playing like they care.

I think you're spot on. During the after match interview McGee singled Roberts out for critisim for getting involved. On the video you can see both him and Bob Booker really having a go at Roberts whilst trying to get him away.It was obvious that they both knew how close he was to getting a red card.

Quite right! That is how it should be - they should care! It is, to my mind, immaterial where players are when an incident like that happens - all but Harding had to move to get to the scene of the incident and how far they had to walk or run to do so should be irrelevant. Singling out a player who was on the periphery is unfair as he was not by any means the only one "involved".

From his post-match comments on SCR, I came to the conclusion that Mark McGhee wasn't happy and blamed our players for the eruption.

No doubt they reacted, but McIlroy was the cause and should be the one who should be blamed and held responsible. Although I appreciate players should exercise self-control and not react, it is human nature to be angry when one sees a colleague being hurt in such a way. There are various versions as to what happened but I saw what looked like Harding being hit in the stomach - it looked like a punch from where I was. Good example to set by a manager!

Our guys are saying that in fact it was the ball that hit him but it wasn't in his stomach, it was a litle bit lower it seems.

Oooooh! painful! No wonder he doubled up. It was at close range, so Mcilroy must have known what he was doing.
