On the Today programme he was referred to as playing a “Russian spy” in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Methinks their researchers must be young.

He was certainly Russian - maybe the last one any of us could trust (save maybe for Gorbachev) - tho I don’t want to turn this into a political debate. That said, in his UNCLE role he looks very similar to a young Putin - who knows, maybe they are related?
