To be fair, it appears that all the Premiership clubs have voted for it, so he's not unique.

Businessmen in charge of their Busineses trying to earn more money for Business.

Hardly a shock is it. They are all driven by the desire to make as much money as possible, I blame Thatcher.

The guy is backing plans for this over seas football. What a complete tw@t:censored::censored::censored::censored:

Todays vote was unanimous, so it's not just David. But I heard him interviewed on Talksport and he did sound like a total cock. Trying to say that this was great for the fans, and trying to avoid saying that it's all about money was just an insult to our intelligence.

Durham "But what about the fans who go to every game home and away, who can simply not afford to travel to Melbourne for a game?"
Gold "Well, we also play away to Sunderland and some fans would say they can't afford to travel to that game, but we can't say we won't play there because of it."
Durham "But with respect, a trip to Sunderland wouldn't cost anywhere near the same as a trip to Melbourne ..."
Gold "We are talking three years ago, so we just don't know it may be cheaper than getting to Sunderland by then. You could have planes with 800 seats ....."

Unbelievable.

You've thought **** the fans, we've got a chance to earn some extra money here. Well, it's one thing seeing half of Thailand clammering for tickets for Man Utd, but I wonder how much interest they'll be in Dubai for Bolton vs Reading???

I hope it dies on it's arse, in fact I hope the whole Premiership gravy train does, and when the clubs turn round and look for their hard core support because they need them again, they realise that they have gone, in fact they went about a generation ago, but no-one noticed.

All the Premier League chairmen voted for it.
It's the end of football as WE know it. And the "Big five" whoever they might be will be seeded so they don't play each other so they're guaranteed easier games and a likely win. And these games will count towards the title - it's an absolute effin' travesty. Now I can see the attraction of say Man U playing Liverpool wherever it may be but as that isn't going to happen who will turn up to watch Wigan v Birmingham. What happens to the fans from this country who want to see their team play all it's games - agreed a plane ticket to LA will probably still be cheaper than seeing Chelsea at the Bridge or Arsenal at the Emirates but it's still pricy and well beyond the pockets of many people in this country. It's taken the game even further away from the man in the street (unless that man is Bill Gates)

Not only that, but it's surely going to have a destructive effect on the local leagues of the countries that get these games.

It's ridiculous, did you hear the amount of times the word "brand" was used? It'll be utterly stupid for the game

What's the point of selling the brand to existing supporters? They can be taken for granted.

It's the new markets that need to be reached.

My only question is why they are bothering with the hassle of organising football matches. This is all about selling replica shirts and TV programmes. Surely these can be sold more effectively?

Dick Knight managed to sell MILLIONS of wonderbras without dragging footballers into the marketing campaign.

We are continually told that our players are involved in too many games, now more games and abroad, add in the jetlag and the result will be bad for the game.
Another factor is the gambling on football abroad millions will be at stake and bribes will be offered and taken.

.

It is said to be going to happen on the weekend of 6th Jan, which is traditionally the 3rd round of the FA Cup, first Saturday in January, so presumably they will change that and allow them a week to get over the jet lag.

Football will live to regret the day they sold out to Sky, It is a shorterm fix because people are getting fed up with too much football on the tele.

I don't know if it's just me, but for football in this country, I actually think this would be a good thing as rather than going to watch the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United, supporters would start going to watch other clubs on a saturday afternoon.

The likes of Bury, Rochdale and Oldham, I reckon, would benefit hugely as supporters would go to watch them due to Man United or Man City playing their games abroad and supporters not being able to go to watch them.

Besides, I like the way that the Birmingham City chairman is saying this, when this time next year they'll be in the Championship!

Someone raised a good point on Talk Sport yesterday. It's not inconceivable that Someone like Bristol City could be playing Hull City in the prem next season.

How well would that game go down, in somewhere like Sydney or Hong Kong?

Can't see the crowds flocking in but there again perhaps crowds don't matter anymore.

It's like a bad dream that I can't wake up from; what is happening to football in this country. Where will it all end; a global super league?

There is bound to be a backlash from the fans about this, but perhaps it's too late, as Premier fans have accepted / been forced to accept all the changes that led us to this point, and where we are now fans have less influence / power than ever before, as the big clubs don't even need people turning up at matches to make a profit.

It will go hand in hand with the creation of a world or european super league, and I for one will not care one bit. I don't give a f*** where Man U play their games, or if its a two horse race between Chelsea and Barcelona for the WORLD SUPREME TITLE (sponsored by Haliburton).

If you're a fan of a Prem team who doesn't like whats happening then stop going. Take up golf or start growing veg in your garden. Read a book or something. It's alot cheaper.

This is called 'progress', and whilst it continues to line the pockets of the wealthy it cannot be halted. The next thing after this will be the changes to the rules of the game and thats when everyones really going to start going mad.

The game laft the man on the street behind over 10 years ago now - it's high time the man on the street moved on.
