Have to disagree. Of all the Steely Dan soundalikes in the late 80s, they were the best.
where there other Steely Dan soundalikes?

There were, most of whom seemed to be over-earnest Scots.
Like Deacon Blue - you can't get too much more derivative than their nicking their name from a Dan track - or someone like Love and Money, and the slightly cooler Hipsway - generally rather annoying, slightly funky outfits with lengthy guitar solos, desperately trying to do their own "Kid Charlemagne" every time.
A pox on these imposters. The Dan rule.
