Who remembers Dale Jasper? The only name I can remember from the very first game I ever saw, Brighton v Plymouth in 1987. 1-1 draw with a certain Garry Nelson playing for Plymouth, who looked very promising according to my dad...

I think I also remember Doug Rougvie from that very same game. Dunno why Dale's name has stuck in my mind.

Doug Rougvie joined later on at the end of the season.
Soon to be joined by another ex Chelsea star Keith Dublin.
Amazing

Dale Jasper was generally pants. Coming from Chelsea you'd expect him to have a bit of pedigree about him. Afraid not Charlie. The Chelsea of that era were a piss poor apology of the moneybags superstars of today. They didn't have a pot to piss in and were on the verge of dropping into the second division. Dale Jaspers five minutes of fame was punching the ball into the net whilst lying on the ground for a late equalizer against Chesterfield. Fortunately, Stevie Wonder was the Ref and we got away with it. And we call Chesterfield "cheats"? :lolol:

He was a top man....scored a brilliant goal away at Fulham on New Years Day (well it crossed the line didn't it !)...I seem to remember Richard Tiltman scored the other one ...Dale also played in the Sussex Senior Cup winning side of 1988 while at the Albion....those were the days !!!! Last seen at Kingstonion....but as he's about 40 now he's probably packed in....or perhaps we could re-sign him ???

He was awful - a classic example of the dull late eighties Albion (unlike the roller coaster of the nineties/todays) the only notable thing about him if I remember (was young at the time) was that he wore what looked like a plaster cast for most one season - remember he must have been colour blind as he never passed to a Brighton player

All I remember about Dale Jasper is that he wasn't as good as Steve Jacobs - although he didn't get sent off as much.

Dale Jasper was so dreadful that I've named myself after him. I'm haunted by his feeble contributions in centre mid.

I do remember Dale Jasper, that was also the first season I watched the Albion. I don't remember much of his play so it would be unkind to criticise, although the fact I don't remember much probably means he was crap.

Although at that time I always thought Darren Hughes was crap and I believe he scored the second goal in a great 2-0 win over Palace that season, which shut me up.

I remember Dale Jasper.

Even as a ten year old, from my distant position high on the East terrace, I knew he was crap. Everyone else around me thought he was crap, probably even his mother thought he was crap. and his slicked back hair and (earlier) mullet was crap.

Barry Lloyd thought he was quite good though evidently.
