Dont think iv started a rumour on here before, but have heard this could be a possibility as its a 3 year deal, which at 34 isnt to be sniffed at.

Hope im proved wrong but would explain the delay so make of it what u will!

I understand that the delay is due to issues with Luton, specifically issues with them not paying him what he's owed.

Once that's sorted, he's here.

Until he signs, all there is a gentleman's agreement, ,which unfortunately these days counts for nothing.
If he is offered a 3 year deal. assuming on the same money, this would give him a 1/3 more money. what would you do at his time in his career ?
he's got bills to pay like the rest of us

Must admit had my doubts about Currie, he stalled last year when he was supposed to join on loan and the same has happened again. Wouldn't suprise me if this is true.

BTW I take Beeneys to be a reliable source as he's a sports journo!!

I won't be that suprised if this turn out to be true, seems unlikely given the comments made by MA though..

Chesterfield would have to be mad or desperate to offer a contract as long as that though imo.

Currie would be mad in my opinion. Could make the same mistake he made when joining Luton instead of us

Why would he be mad?
A player at 34 is looking at 4 things;

1. Wages. Lets assume our offer and a theoretical Chesterfield offer are comparable.

2. Length of deal. 3 years clearly better than 2.

3. Location. He chose Luton for family reasons. I have no idea exactly where he lives, but from Luton straight up the M1 to Chesterfield is quicker than round the M25 to Brighton.

4. Playing opportunities. At 34 you don't want the end of your career to peter out on the bench. Here he'd not be a certain starter, there he might be.

I understood that he had agreed terms and signed a deal, but was waiting for his cash from Luton before coming. Therefore this is just plan rubbish.
