Andrew Crofts reckons Albion should be higher up the Championship table – even without their missing stars.
The Seagulls’ joint top goalscorer reckons they are better than their current position of 16th indicates, even without a host of injuries.
Now he is backing them to add to draws with Yeovil and Watford by going on an unbeaten run to match their six-game sequence early in the campaign.
Albion were missing seven senior players when Crofts’ fourth goal of the season secured a 1-1 draw with Watford.
On top that, left-back Stephen Ward has been ruled out of the trip to Doncaster on Saturday with hamstring problem.
Crofts said: “There are players out of the side who are really top players but that team out there on Monday is more than a match for any Championship team.
“That team showed we should be a lot higher in the league than we are at the moment.
“If we keep playing like that, keep the momentum going, keep the belief in the changing room – and we have got belief – we will start winning games.
“If we win on Saturday it keeps that run going. Early in the season we went six unbeaten and we were looking really strong.
“We had a couple of dips but if you can keep unbeaten in a few games you start climbing the table.
“It changes just like that and that is what we are aiming today.”
Crofts is not setting himself any goal-getting targets other than to keep chipping in.
He added: “Goals have always been part of my game.
“Things have been falling to me. I’ve been making good runs, the delivery has been good.
“Winning games is the only target I set. If you score it is a bonus.”
