Andrew*Crofts is in contention for his third start in 13 months for Albion.
Restoring the midfielder is among the options under consideration by manager Chris Hughton to overcome the absence of Sam Baldock at Burnley on Sunday.
Hughton reverted to a 4-3-3 formation in the 1-1 draw at Reading recently, Crofts joining Dale Stephens and Beram Kayal in the centre of the park with Baldock and Jamie Murphy as wingers.
The same solution is available at Turf Moor, this time with Murphy and Solly March on the flanks as Baldock (thigh) is ruled out.
Bobby Zamora has so far normally replaced Hemed, rather than joining forces with him, while Dutchman Elvis Manu has earned just a handful of substitute appearances since signing in August.
Inigo Calderon, handed his first league start of the season at Sheffield Wednesday earlier this month, could also enter calculations if Hughton decides to switch Murphy into a more central role.
Crofts returned to action last month following a year out caused by a second serious knee ligament injury.
Hughton has a decision to make in the centre of defence as well. Captain Gordon Greer is back from five weeks out with knee trouble to challenge Uwe Huenemeier and Lewis Dunk.
