Nothing wrong with emotional insurance... I don't see it as unpatriotic. If you are betting £100 on Croatia to win, then if we progress through to the next round then you have forked out £100 for your country. If we lose, then you end up with a fair amount of money to go on the piss with to drink down the sorrows of losing
