Not saying he would have been as good for us in league 1 as he has been in league 2 but fair play to the bloke he is scoring a hatful in league 2. I always liked him but felt he never got a chance with us, not too fussed he went but good to see him getting on with it!

I don't understand it, his issue was never about making the chances it was finishing them, so how is he suddenly scoring 20+ in a season? Has he just got literally 20 chances a game because he's dropped a level and scores one or has he finally learnt how to finish (in which case we should've kept him, he could do that at this level)

I thought he was ok. Worked hard, just lacking confidence. Not helped by playing in such a poor team.

Some of his goals this season have been brilliant - so not really a case of finding his level. No keeper in this league would have done much better with a lot of them.

Glads to see it working out for him.

He never got a fair deal from some fans. He started ok for us before getting injured and was rushed back when he wasnt fully fit, he looked like he was trying hard (maybe too hard) in an effort to impress and fans poor attitude (some pathetic so called fans singing Your not fit to wear the shirt, etc) made it virtually impossible for him to stay

Its a shame as we have missed out on a good goalscorer because of some fans shortsightedness. Barnes missed a few at the start of his time here this season, but didn't get anywhere the level of abuse Davies got and this season fans have in the main been behind all of the team - last season Davies seems to have been the victim of some fans venting their frustration about how the season was going.

One of the best things about Poyets reign here is that he managed to stop fans slagging off our players and get behind the team (eg. El-Abd described by Poyet as our best defender at a time where he was getting abuse from some fans)

You speak a lot of sense.

A bet a lot of the people who abuse players do not realise how much of a role confidence plays in performances, especially for a goal scorer. If you play any sport at a competitive level you will realise this. The way some fans treated him was completely counter-productive.

Davies wasn't hounded out but he did lose all confidence and it certainly wasn't helped by fans who nicknamed him barndoor and the like. Very quick and a great shot on him - missed a sitter early on by trying to hit it too hard and the crowd were on his back thereafter. The analogy with Barnes isn't far off as he has also attracted a significant number of detractors who feel that despite scoring 16 goals he should have got more, but then Glenn Murray also has his own hate club and Chris ("lump of" as some seem to want it) Wood also. Some players cope with it and others don't and of course all of the current crop have the benefit of playing in a good side - a luxury Davies never had while at the Albion. On a day when Gus said that he sometimes forgets how happy he/his team can make the fans, perhaps some fans might usefully reflect on how easily they can hurt the players

I always liked him, I thought it was a disgrace when the fans sung "you're not fit to wear the shirt" at MK Dons.

We also sung this to the whole team at Carlisle 2 or 3 seasons ago and on that occassion IT WAS JUSTIFIED.

The match at Hereford was probably his best in a Brighton shirt. Unplayable that night. I'm glad he's doing well, its a shame it wasn't for us.
