Im not one to jump on the usual band wagon of early drivel regarding results/manager out/chairman out etc..but just a couple of things which concern me....and ok i havnt seen any of the pre season matches , so if anyone wants to pull me up on anything i say here, then please do and i will be pleased to have a good discussion, about what im going to say now.

1 ...Goals scored. Im concerned that we barely scored a goal in pre seaon, and that Murray was the only 'striker' that actually did. ( 1 goal).
2..TEMPO. I keep hearing about tempo, and the importance of 'hitting the ground running'.... why is it that whenever im away and listen on Seagulls World, or watch games at the Withdean its like being at a funeral...surely it cant be all down to the place... what the hell is it ! New season, so much anticipation.....i just cant get my head round it. Those guys should have been busting a gut ....PLEASE...can someone tell me what or why is it not happening !!!

We played well at Scunny last week. Tempo is all about how the team are playing and controlling the game as opposed to the atmosphere at Withdean , there was only 3 of us singing at Scunny btw.

No, its not at all about how the team is playing.......... tempo and controlling the game are two different things all together.
TEMPO ..is pace ... going at the opposition and making them feel that you are at them.. as John Byrne said today... 'Walsall must have felt like the home team today'....even if you arnt passing the ball that well , you HAVE to get at the defenders and put them under pressure...we just dont seem to do that.
AND ..what about our goalscorers ?

The one thing that really concerns me is that our midfield looks as shit as ever. We haven't had a footballer in midfield for years, and finally when the big clearout comes we get a joker like Crofts and a lump like Navarro as replacements. We're too slow, too predictable, and there remains no goal threat. Dicker needs to play a.s.a.p.

We need to play Dicker in the anchor role and bring in that elusive attacking midfielder. I notice that Rohan Ricketts is on trial at Hibernian and is playing in their friendly on Eurosport aginst Bolton.

I'm comforted by Mr Salad's comment at the Fans Forum ... "My teams get better after a few games together"

Yes! If i recall, we didn't win the a game first time around untill 4/5 games in to his reign?

Considering the brandnew-ness of this side that played, minus OGH and Dicker, I'm gutted we didn't win but yeah, we weren't shite, we just were a bit rough and they got lucky with that oggy.
