Council Tax. Do we pay too much?

Yes. A lot of wastage and incredible annual hikes. Around here Council Tax has risen by over 40% in the last 2 years. Personally, apart from dustbin men etc, I don't really get anything for my money as I am not poor or vulnerable. I appreciate Councils do a lot of good work, but I object to paying so much in addition to income tax, national insurance & VAT.

This is a bit pointless. Whenever you ask this 90% of people are going to say yes because
A) People naturally resent paying over money to government and
B) Most expenditure is invisible to most people so they assume a significant amount of the tax they pay is wasted

The pensioners in Devon & Cornwall have shown the way by reusing to pay a percentage of their council tax rises this year.
Maybe the time has come for others in the South to follow their lead? I resent the amount I pay. NO WAY do I get value for money......
The south has been clobered with unfair rises in council tax this year. why?....Becauses subsidies have been reduced in the South and given to the North!....
