Coppell stunned by Seagulls start
Reading manager Steve Coppell admitted to being stunned by Brighton's first-minute opening goal.
Albion striker Maheta Molango marked his debut by opening the scoring only 14 seconds into the Championship opener, which Reading came back to win 3-2.
Coppell said: "It was a set kick-off ploy that we hadn't even logged. I thought nothing of it.
"We had just been talking in the dressing room about keeping a clean sheet and then that happens. Fortunately we scored an equally sloppy goal to get back."
The former Brighton boss was especially pleased to get off to a winning start against his old club.
"I have a lot of affection for the club and for the players who worked for me when I was manager there," he said. "It gave a little more edge to the game."
