Coppell happy with point

Brighton manager Steve Coppell was happy to settle for a point after watching Plymouth come back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 at Home Park.
David Friio levelled in the last minute for Argyle, and Sturrock said: "I thought it was a terrific game, end-to-end stuff with a lot of pressure from Plymouth who are a very strong, powerful side.

"The game lasts 90 minutes, not 73 or whenever it was we scored our third goal.

"At the end of 90 minutes I was pleased to get a point from a very hard game. It's an awfully long way to go back with nothing. At least we got a point because at 3-3 they hit the post on the break."

Believe if you had been there you would have been happy with a point as well.

After the initial dissapointment went if felt as though we had lost upon looking at the game the facts were.

1. Plymouth deserved at least a point
2. We were gifted 2 goals by them
3. They hit the woodwork twice in the 2nd half including a bullet in the last minute which had Roberts totally beaten
4. Not many teams will come back from 2 goals against the Albion in the last 10 minutes infact I would wager it won't happen again this season

OK we could have put 10 men behind the goal when we went 3-1 up and maybe should have but Coppell is on record saying that he will keep chasing goals and 9 times out of 10 it works. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm not happy with a point 2 goals up 10 mins to go, you need to get hold of the ball, show a bit of authority not all this lashed clearances and headless chicken impressions, do we want promotion?

Utter shambles

I can assure you I was not happy with a point after being 3-1 up and being wound up by the Plymouth fans outside the ground but if you look at the game as a whole we did well to get a point.

We have 10 pts from 5 games scoring 10 goals and that record will gain us a top 2 place over the course of a season.

We are not playing as well as we were under Micky Adams or indeed Peter Taylor at the moment but we are missing Rodgers in particular and Danny was half fit.

I would rather our manager want a team going for goals and I beleive over the 46 games it will bring us the championship thats why I backed them at 10/1 and 9/1. Don't panic we will be back winning on Saturday.

We were fortunate to find ourselves 3-1 up - Plymouth had us under the cosh for long periods, and I thought we played poorly for most of the game. At times the midfield was overrun, and when we did get hold of the ball we invariably gave it away cheaply. Hacked clearances were coming straight back at us time and again, and I've rarely seen Cullip lose out in so many aerial battles.

On the bright side, we've played poorly in our last 2 games and picked up 4 points. Had that been in D1, I think we'd have got mullered both times. Thats the difference between the divisions I guess.

O'k a point is a good result but it's the giving the ball away cheaply that has been the bain of the Albion time and time again they do it, why oh why can't they get the ball down and knock it about take the pace out of the opposition, you sit there and you know whats coming 5,10,15 minutes before it happens.

I tend to find teams who hang on(such as man city yesterday)often lose out in the end and in our case we did!

I think he is saying that we easily could have come away with nothing, having given up after going 3-1 up. That is exactly what happened and in the end if the game had gone on any longer we would have lost.

I think he will be very unhappy with the last 10 minutes of play, but happy that we didn't end up losing, if you see what I mean.

Disappointed to drop two points. But it doesn’t sound like we really deserved to win. And a total of 10 points so far without hitting anywhere near top gear bodes well.
