Brighton have urged their fans not to read anything into the fact that manager Steve Coppell missed Monday's training due to an unexpected magic trick test failure.

Coppell - who has been strongly linked with the vacant manager's post at Reading - was further testing his magic in a bid to take on the role of manager at two clubs at the same time.

A club spokesperson said: "Despite the preparations for this key test of magic, Steve was absent from Brighton's training ground when it was intended the magic trick would have enabled Steve to appear in two training grounds at once. These magic tests have been done on several managers up and down the country and Steve was due to appear at two trainings grounds simultaneously this week."

Meanwhile, striker Darius Henderson has returned to Reading after a two-month loan spell with the Seagulls. Commenting on Henderson's ability a spokesperson said "Darius would put David Blaine to shame, he was invisible for most of the 8 weeks, but I think David Blaine is better inside the box".
