Consumer rights.

I believe when you place an order online you have the right to cancel the order at any time and the retailer has 30 days to refund you.

My question is, if you have placed the order online and it was showing in stock but after you placed it they confirm that it was out of stock, do they still have 30 days to give you the money back or should they have to do this straight away?

I was looking for the answer online but could not find the answer on this one.

Thanks.

If it hasn't been dispatched you can cancel at any time. Money should not be taken until the item is in stock. If you have any hassles contact your credit card provider and request a transaction reversal stating the reasons why.

Is this Apple by any chance?

Thanks for the reply. Is it right though that the credit card can take up to 30 days to investigate it?
Also is it the law that the money should not be taken until the item is in stock?

Yes but the transaction will be in suspense so no interest will be added, and it will not be part of your minimum payment should you get statemented in the meantime

Thanks.

The company I work for automatically takes the money even if the item is out of stock.
I really don't think this is right but don't know if its against the law?
