Hi All,

I recently went on playusa.com to have a look at the latest dvd's. When i saw a Simpson DVD priced 0.99p. So i thought id get that. Set up the order and recieved the order confirmation. Then This morning i recieved a email saying

Dear Customer

We regret to inform you that there has been a pricing error for Simpsons Gone Wild on PlayUSA. We incorrectly entered the price as 99p instead of £10.99 (GBP). Unfortunately due to the huge demand this has generated we cannot fulfill your order at this price and have cancelled your order. Please rest assured that you have not been charged for your order.

If you would like to re-order at the correct price please click on the link below:

http://www.playusa.com/playusa.asp?page=title&r=R1&title=184819

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.

Regards

PlayUSA

WHERE DO I STAND? i thought if a item was priced incorrectly, its their fault and they must honour it?

presuming the company is in the US not sure, if its based in the UK then surely theres something you can do. Having worked in various shops I do know that if you price something wrong you have to sell it at the marked price (unless its above of course) so you may have a case, or may not!

Cheers Crabbers, but im sure the playusa has a site over here, as any dvds ive ordered have been pretty quick and have had english postage marks.

I had a mate who got a £500 kodak camara for £50 that they priced incorrectly online. Why can't the tight feckers let me off £10  they f***ed up. not me

do a google search for the trading standards and writeb them an e-mail with a forward of the e-mail you got off PlayUSA (find out where they are based first) then see what happens.

Online retailers (UK or otherwise) work differently to high street stores.

If you look at the small print of the majority of e-tailers, there is no contract of sale (price/stock guarantee) until they email you back confirming the order.

BTW, is that really what happened or did you see it on a bargain email/forum like everyone else!?!? :lolol:

You won't get anywhere. Amazon mispriced a load of IPAQs a couple of years ago and were bombarded by 000s of people ordering and all they did was cancel all the orders and that was that.

apparently they are within their rights. It was a big thing at the time and Amazon got away with it.

I bet if you read the small print the actual transaction is when they send the item. Thats what amazon had, they send confirmation but that doesn't matter, its only a transaction when they take your money and send the item, before that they have the right to cancel an order.

Might be different but I suspect not. Simple answer is you've got no chance pal.

Sounds about right.

Even if you had a case it's probably not worth going to court with a foreign company over £10. :glare:

there was a case (the amazon one?) where the courts ruled thats unless there is deliberate mis-prciing to attact you to their site, nothing you can do about it. If they've emailed you informing of a mistake and asked you to re-order, ie they've cancelled the original order, then they are pretty much in the clear.

The price is defined as an 'invitation to treat' and is not a definitive offer.

If they email back that the order has been received then they have not accepted the offer until the money has been deducted, But if the money has already been deducted from your credit card and you have a receipt that counts as an acceptance of offer and a firm contract.

However, eveni if they did this, as Wozza says do you really want to go to court over a tenner.

Give the money to the Albion fund instead. :)
