Done our nation proud, and one in the eye for tippy-tappy football.

I just can't take much pleasure from seeing a team clinging on for dear life for 180 minutes and scraping through due to opposition missing a lot of clear cut chances (mainly at Stamford Bridge) and a penalty. Of course Chelsea fans should be over the moon, but for neutrals, the better team won't be taking part in the final unfortunately.

It's not much fun watching a team play with 9,10 or 11 men behind the ball for two matches

I always want the English team to win and was impressed with how they hung on to be fair. Even had a bit of a cheer when Torres went round the keeper!

There's a pride in beating one's superior, but that doesn't turn the world upside down and make for a new superior. I wouldn't very much like to watch the Albion with 18% possession of ball each game, clearly clinging to our lives in every step and lunge, and hoping purely that our betters would fail to put their chances away.

I don't quite get the one in the eye for tippy-tappy football; 3 consecutive La Liga titles, 3 Champions League titles in the past 6 seasons, of which I think they've been in every semi final, its hardly one in the eye, it's just an amazing victory for Chelsea. They could play Barca again, and with the luck in a different direction that tie could have been 6-2 on aggregate.

As for 'our nation', there were 2 Englishman on the pitch at the end, 1 had been sent off who has twice been stripped on the England captaincy. I can't say I'm particularly proud, but do congratulate them on a well earned win.

Very well put, as always.

Agree with this too. Think the OP is just on a wind up. Or maybe he applauded West Ham's win at the Amex as "one in the eye for tippy tappy"

There are not many teams in the world that can play against the current Barca team without defending for a good 75% of the game. And with 10 men, Chelsea deserved the result.

I've never liked Chelsea and that's a huge understatement, but in a strange way I wanted them to win, just better than seeing Barca win all the time. Now to cheer on the Germans, don't wanna see that winker lifting the Trophy!

Agree entirely with the last paragraph.........will you all be so proud if Torres rounds our keeper in the Euros to knock us out, or Cech saves a last minute penalty ( if he's there, but you know what I mean) it's not a national team to be proud of unfortunately.

I'm no fan of Chelsea, but I thought it was a magnificent effort last night and I was pulling for them all the way. It was one of the most enthralling European games I have ever seen, I think I can honestly say I've never seen a match quite like it. One team down to 10, camped doggedly in their own penalty area while the other swarmed all over them trying to find a way through. At half time I genuinely thought it was an impossible task, and that it wasn't a case of if Barca scored, but how many. Chelsea will never enjoy as much luck again as they did over the course of those two ties. For sheer drama and entertainment value, I don't think you can top last night.

Just an incredible game.

Can't deny the quality of Ramires'(sp?) goal, if Messi had done that the media would have gone absolutely mental over it

Hate chelsea more than any team however the ramires goal and he way they defended kind was a credit. Also Barca are kind of becoming annoying...

John Terry was just being a total cock as always and deserves to be miserable during another Champions League final.

I also think it has done Chelsea a favour. The team will be "trying to do it for JT" (as we did for Fozzie in '83), but will not have to have to be burdened with his lack of pace on the pitch - win-win!

I'd just like to say that Chelsea's performance, whilst 'fantastic' in the eyes of their new legion of fans on here, was f***ing horrible to watch. In two legs they managed 4 attempts on goal-FOUR- and basically parked their entire team in their own penalty area for almost 180 minutes. Great goal by Ramires but for me that was it from Chelsea.

Yes, if The Albion had got a result under similar circumstances we'd all be delighted. However, that type of football does not deserve to win the biggest club trophy in world football and I for one hope they get well and truly hammered in the final-and it doesn't matter who by. Horrible, horrible way to play football-they managed to make Bolton look like a cultured side. Granted, a fantastic team spirit with everybody working their socks off but yeuch! Horrible.

On the other hand not being able to break down a side with 10 men and a center back pariring of Ivanovich and Bosingwa, and conceeding a goal to Torres is hardly the stuff of champions is it?

We all agree it's nice to see one touch football but there are other equally impressive things. I thought it was good because they neutralised Barcelona in the 2nd half and exposed them as a team with no plan B, and counter-attacked with speed and precision. With 10 men. Playing at the Nou Camp. With no natural centre backs, and a striker acting as a makeshift left back.

It wasn't ugly football, it was incredible.

I think it's to Barca's credit that they managed to create 4 or 5 clear cut chances in the first leg, and scored two and had a penalty last night whilst playing against a team with 11 men in their own box. If a team sets itself up that negatively it's going to be a struggle for any team to score lots, but had Barca had their shooting boots on, and Messi was on form and not ill, Chelsea would have conceded about 8 over the two legs and would have been hailed an embarrassment by the media.

Barca lost the tie, Chelsea didn't win it
