Fascinating programme on the threat of a nuclear war over Britain in the early eighties from Russia. Some of those Government adverts were pretty sick but they got the message across.
Very interesting, jogged my memory on Thatcher and what she did to help bring it to an end, but can't remember the seriousness of the threat of the bomb that the programe portrayed.

As a child in the 1980s my parents didn't shelter me from their opinion that nuclear war was somewhere between likely and inevitable. their "plan" for when the russian attack came was to load the whole family into the Hillman Avenger and drive to dungeoness. a good solid strategy.
Dominic Sandbrook drives me absolutely barmy with his contorted expressions and absurd inflections and I was forced to forsake an interesting subject for other channels. Same as Robert Peston. A good and knowledgeable man whose presentation style is better suited to amateur dramatics.
