So is the Norwich forum. This is brilliant news as no amount of money will replace him.He is such a good player.

May sound a bit stupid, but I'd hate Norwich to get into the Premiership this season because it could leave Bennett in a resentful frame of mind, rueing what might have been had we let him go. If Norwich are still in the Championship next season it'd hopefully seem like less of an issue to him. Unfortunately all the teams around Norwich seem to be doing everything they can to let Norwich take second place behind QPR, who might themselves drop down the table with a points deduction leaving Norwich as Championship leaders.

I can understand that but the bottom line is...it helps us out a bit. Norwich will come back again in the summer for Bennett if they go up and hopefully we can ask for more money as we will be in the Championship then. I have complete faith in Gus building a team for the Championship and spending large money wisely.

Still hope Bennett stays, and thinking about it, Lambert should probably sign players that are experienced, good Championship players and/or Premiership players rather than a League One midfielder...albeit an excellent League One midfielder...

Yep, agreed. Although not convinced Lambert would go after Bennett if they make the Premiership.

When norwich came in for him, it was totally the wrong time. If you look at the promotional material for The Amex he is the face on all the leaflets. This promotional material must have cost the club thousands and if he did go, the club would have had to do new leaflets or promote the stadium with a player that is no longer with us. For marketing purposes, that is not good and it might have effected sales.

As for Bennett, I hope we can establish ourselves in The Championship first and I hope Bennett gets the dream move he deserves. I don't think anyone will mind if he does go once the job is done. Like I say he deserves it.

Hasnt the transefer window closed? So this is for next year? If so Norwich are idiots.... he could have a career-threatening injury between now and then

I think he's bloody brilliant but is he the player to score the goals in the Premier League?

Not sure he scored that many in his one season in the Championship so three million would be a big risk.

I know what you're saying and that thought crosses my mind sometimes too. However Bennett was a means to an end for Norwich; if he'd helped them get into the Prem would he have still been in their plans? He may have found himself marginalised whilst Norwich signed a load of ex-Wigan, WBA or similar players with proven Premiership experience. Then he may have regretted leaving us!

That brings me onto CMS. Given that the transfer window is shut Norwich can't buy him until the summer now anyway. Surely from their point of view it makes sense to wait until they see what division they're in next season? Unlike us they can't take promotion as a given, and if they slip up and stay in the Championship then, yes, CMS would be a great signing for them. However if they DO get promoted then my point about Bennett also applies to CMS. Is he good enough to go straight into a Premiership team? Or would they be better off spending the money on someone with proven premiership ability?

Just read on the Norwich-Bristol City thread that it would be a loan until the summer followed by a permanent transfer.

Surely Peterboro would have to be mental to agree to this? On current form, they've got as good a chance to go up as anyone...well, except BHA.

Loan till the summer ? Sounds unlikely. I am surprised they are even talking about it. Posh have a chance to go up - and then they can talk about it.

On the Standing on the Glebe podcast they are resigned to him going at the emd of the season - regardless of division.

I find this very surprising. In all honesty, as good as CMS is, I think I'd rather have Benno, and certainly there isn't a gulf in class between the two. So why didn't Norwich offer us more than one million? I assumed it was because they didn't have the money, but they clearly do if this is true. Can't help but think if we'd been offered 2.5-3 million for Bennett then we would have accepted

I've just worked it all out.

Dion Dublin, being a Cambridge United legend, doesn't like Peterboro very much so decides to wind their fans up by inventing a story where their best player is shipped out on loan thus ruining their promotion hopes.
