Just got this on text message:
Steve Claridge is unavailable for the away fixture at Upton Park tomorrow as the trip clashes with the 4th Annual Derby and Joan Bridge competition and bric-a-brac sale. Although his place in the West Wittering team could be taken by the less experienced Elsie Humbug, Steve had offered to bake a Victoria sponge for the occasion and a replacement can't be found at such short notice.
Steve was unable to comment from his Home as his false teeth have gone missing again, apparently during yesterday's edition of Bargain Hunt. Rumours that Mark McGhee has been asked to leave the Home after haranguing other long-term guests about their availability on Saturday afternoons have been quashed by the club.
