Richard Carpenter, Mr Consistency, Heart of our midfield......

I for one think chippy is definately 1st Div quality, last time round in the 1st i think he was our best player. I think when he returns from injury our fortunes will change for the better and that he will bring the best outta the promising Nicolas.

COME ON THE ALBION

But when will that be?

Hope he doesn't leave it too late, or we'll be doomed anyway!

Totally agree that he will make a big difference if anywhere near his best, though.

Are we putting too much pressure and expectation on Chippy? He has been our most consistant midfielder for a few seasons but do you really think that he is a quality championship midfielder? He is tenacious, gets stuck in, strikes a good deadball and is capable of scoring from distance. His distribution is patchy and his close skills and pace are not great.

I think we need him back but we also need someone to be creative. Can Currie or Jarrett fill that role with more time to settle in or do we need another midfielder as well? Haven't seen a game yet this season so cannot comment on Jarrett or Currie's abulities.

Chippy has been the driving force and most consistent player for 4 or 5 seasons now, im not pinning my hopes on him keeping us up....but his consistency and experience will help nicolas no end and give us an effective midfield partnership.........so you seriously think he is not championship material then do you ??? i find that comment ridiculous.

he's gotta prove himself this term, coming back from injury/operation, he has to lead the midfield and show that he is upto stopping and passing through the likes of Wolves, Leeds, Leicester, Sunderland etc.
I'm hoping he does well as I like the bloke but he will need to work bloody hard this season.

fact hes a year or more older
fact hes gotta comeback from injury, whose to say he wont end up like Rodger & Blackwell!
fact many believe this division is stronger than last time
fact I want him to do well, just looking at both sides of the situation!

he may not be the whole answer, but the sooner he is back the better because he is a very good and consistant player that we need back in our team.

The best midfield performance I've seen since Rogers left was against Coventry. Chippy wasn't even involved.

Hinsh and Nicolas in the centre are the future!

Chippy was excellent last time we were in this division: he was my choice for player or the season as Danny was pants in our early games, while Chippy was excellent throughout.

Hope he's back soon.
