both young and meant to be quite handy, why are we not having a sniff after them? knight has been such a success and could help sway them to joining us if we went in for them.

The young central defender Joe or Joel Kitamarike is one very good defender, we should be picking him up ahead of Brentford surely?

Are we really that hard up that Brentford can afford this players wages and we cant, everyone can see we need to strengthen at the back, Coppell even said it himself, this player is good, why aren't we getting him?

???

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
I dont think it is a big disaster.
Often if clubs are about to let someone go on loan, then their agent is responsible for finding the club.
The agent may have a connection at (for example) Brentford and then a deal is done without any other clubs being involved.
When a very young player is involved often an agent will go for a local club so that the player or even the agent is not liable for any travel/accomodation costs.
BHAFC only hear of a a certain amount of loan players that may be available, usually by fax on a weekly basis.
I know this because my sister used to fork for IMG !

Untill we know that his agent directly offered him to us I dont think statements such as the above are relevant !!

Its over a permanent deal, not loan. We should be after these players if they are available, whether or not the agent has offered him to us does not stop us making an approach to the club..

If you were to aproach every Premiership / First Division club about the availability of their squad/youth players you would need a permanent employee to do so.
BHAFC do not have the resources.
We have to rely on the contacts that SC has and on present form he aint doing too bad.
When a manager is taken on board he is usually asked about his contacts, it can often mean the difference between getting the job, or scouting for Swindon (oops!!)

yes that goes without saying, but considering we got Leon Knight from Chelsea and these two play for..hmm..Chelsea...you woul think we might have a contact there. Even if not, we now KNOW they are available on a free etc because it is in the papers that they are talking to Brentford.

It makes no difference that they were at CFC when Leon was there, it gives us no advantage over Brentford, who at the end of the day (sadly) could probably pay the same to a couple of 21 yr olds as we could.
I dont see a rush of clubs looking to sign these two
Remember also that Leon was a youth internationalist and had a good few clubs chasing him, when it came to the crunch we got our man, and it has been worth it.
He was rated a lot higher than these two, who are about the standard of English 3rd division but no higher.
Patience, we will be rewarded on the transfer front I have no doubt.

I wasnt saying that them playing with knight would help us sign them..merely that what you wrote about contacts etc didnt apply here because we obviously Do have them at chelsea or we wouldnt have signed knight

Unfortunately most of the time these days it dosn't come down to contacts at the club, but contacts with their agent.
I am led to believe that thse two share the same incumbant !

We didn't have a scout when Coppell joined us and he sounded pretty suprised. Do we have one yet? If we can't afford one then we are more fecked than I thought.

Who, given our poverty, probably advise us of young, potentialy available players, after other clubs have said no, :(

More Championship Manager syndrome. Everytime a supposedly decent player goes to another club we get this crap. Unless you know for a fact that we made an offer for these players and were turned down by either Chelsea or the player then, in my opinion, you're talking out of your hat. If Coppell had taken notice of these rants, we'd have the following players in addition to our squad :-

These 2 Chelsea players, Junior Lewis, Carl Asaba, Luke Beckett, John Robinson, Andrei Kanchelskis, Luke Rodger, Luke Nightingale and countless others I can't remember. And be bankrupt.

If Coppell comes out and complains that he's been refused permission to go for a player then I'll jump on the bandwagon. But here is my summary of the above thread :-

I'm dismayed that Knight and the board have neither the money or ambition to take on loan a player that somebody told me was quite good.

Well excuse me for not crying in my beer. We missed out on a central defender and we've only got Cullip, Pethick, Hinchelwood, Virgo, Butters and Mayo. Every one with fairly extensive first team experience at playing Centre Half. Most other teams would be giving debuts to Youth Team players long before we run out of experienced players.
