Sure will have been mentioned before but just wanted to say incase anyone missed it what a cracking read this was. Only a short book with large print but kept me going on my flight. £1.99 on ebay with free delivery can't go wrong!!! Also ALL proceeds go to AiTC apparently

Have bought a copy off Amazon for my hols this Sunday funnily enough. A mate did say that if you start reading it on the plane, you'll be finished before the takeoff but looking forward to it anyway.

It's a great read. Well worth the £1.99.

Shows what a great character Charlie is, he could so easily have gone right off the rails and seems to really appreciate what football's done for him.

Read this in a couple of hours last week - really enjoyed it - seems like a top bloke who's not had an easy life - good on him x

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Very very fixtures, but worth a reminder for those who missed it the first time.

great book but too short, lol got it in the book deal with we want falmer, stadium yes, peter wards bio, and Brighton and hove Albion on this day, for 16 quid (bargain)

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
It was meant to be short as it's used as an easy read for the literacy classes in AITC, who helped Charlie with his literacy problems. That why some of the proceeds are going back to AITC.

I'm with you on that one. I would like to read a longer version and hope that sometime in the future, Charlie can get a ghost writer to do it for him.

Well it was and it wasn't. Brushes over his entire footballing career in about three pages flat and is bereft of any kind of insiders view of the game. A wasted opportunity in my view. Better to chuck two quid directly into the AITC collecting tin.

Agreed. Sadly, I don't think a full version would have been worth the effort when it comes to sales.

I am certainly more interested in football autobiographies/biographies of interesting characters and not due to the level they played at.

I'd love to see a league table of footballer books. Maybe the interweb can tell us.

Not read the book, but his column in the match programs are rather amusing IMO...

A great read - an incite into someone who has come from such a different background. Also, so uplifting that he has written a book when he couldn't read a few years' ago. But the best recommendation is that my wife enjoyed the book even though she has very little interest in football.
