Glad someone raised this. The Greek word for bar, pronounced bar is mparDon't know if this has already been mentioned in the thread, but sidebar: Remember that 'mp' in Greek is pronounced 'b' -- so 'Kharalabos'. See also NBA giant Giannis Antetokounmpo, pronounced 'Antehtokoonbo'.

Costalot.?So. How do we pronounce his name?
Sorry for correcting you but it would have been over a pint of Tamplins, which was then taken over by the monstrous Watney’s (excuse me, cat’s piss). 90% of pubs in Brighton and Hove were were tied to Watney’s and therefore required’ to serve their muck. Unless of course contracts were drawn up in Lewes, home of said Harvey’s brewery.I still have to pinch myself in how far Brighton have come from the little old club that I used to visit as a kid in my Clarks shoes on cold and wintery 1960s Saturdays to where they are now.
Contracts in those days were done over a pint of Harvey's and a packet of fags.![]()
