Poor old Warren. The more the team progress the harder it becomes for him. Thoughts and prayers etc.
He's already discussing Kostoulas and our other signings!. His podcast with Johnny Cantor - Albion Unlimited - is running through the summer and last night discussed the signings and rumours so far (and how he lost his front teeth on a stag do)

I wonder whether we're effectively trying to build two first teams, at least in the attacking positions. Given the growing number of international games, our hope of establishing ourselves as regular European qualifiers, our injury record and energetic style of play, and the fact that most of our players are either very old or very young, it would kinda make sense to assume that any given player will only be available and on form for about half of each season's games.
I think you're spot on. I was having a look at the squad as is (excluding Pedro and Enciso, as they're certain to go) and it's looking very deep, and this is only including players in their one spot rather than everywhere they can play:

It's only maybe up top where we don't quite know how it looks.

I think it's really helpful to look at it like that.

It's actually 33 players there, excluding Cuibano and Ouhani. As there are no keepers there either you'd have thought that's about 8 too many. And I'm not sure Enciso and Pedro are certain to go, i'm putting them down as likely to move on.

A few thoughts. Are we putting Kostoulas as a competitor for a RW spot, not up front? Cashin, would likely play the other side

Yeah fair point on Kostoulas. I put him there mainly for balance. If we put him up top then that's when we start to lack a bit of depth at RW unless I'm missing someone

Last year Hurzeler said he liked working with a "squad size of 22-25"

Are we that confident we're not going to play with a keeper?

That's a lot of money to spend on an unproven player. The analytics/scouts must be confident that he's a potential superstar. Exciting prospect.

He seems have been playing as an attacking midfielder/second striker for most of the season.

The only way for club like us to get a superstar is to get them before err....they actually are one. Given the position he plays in there will always be a premium so the price is not outrageous, when you consider the likes of the Hojland at Utd cost over £60m

That's quite something. Imagine having Gomez and O'Riley and them NOT being in your first 11. It's almost an embarrassment of riches.

Oh, and not the point you're making but I suspect Kostoulas, if he signs, is ahead of March.
