Somewhere between 8th and 12th I think but it's largely an irrelevance: At least two clubs (Cardiff & Leicester) have gone shit or bust and the three clubs coming down will have big wages to pay because they were in the Premiership, but they are lumbered with paying Premiership wages for players proven to be not good enough for the top flight.

About 13th for me - Leeds, Forest, Cardiff, Bolton, Blackburn, Wolves, Leicester, Hull, Watford, Middlesbrough and Derby all probably have higher wage bills than us for starters and have more money in the kitty.

In the same way as we would struggle big time with the current squad in the Premier League though. Aren't parachute payments for 3 years? That puts us way down the list and can't be considered an irrelevance given the fact that that puts at least 9 teams in front of us for wages, assuming all 9 clubs are spending on players, meaning that they will probably get first dibs on players.I have no idea if this is the case though.

Cardiff and Leicester are obviously out in front, then would come the three relegated teams. Only Blackburn of them have spent anything since relegation really but they have all kept their squads pretty much intact with the possible exception of Wolves.

Throw in Birmingham whose desperation to slash their wage bill suggests they must have some decent earners, and I'd put us around fifth or sixth

I seem to recall Gus saying last season that we have the 17th biggest budget in the league:

...so if we finish higher than that it's an achievement for us

Correct me if I am wrong, but nonetheless our budget has not really changed that much over the past 18 months or so.
