watched it few times now and it gets better with each viewing. It builds the Bond character well and even though the falling in love bit is clunky it reveals why he became cold hearted in later stories.

I haven't been to a Bond film since Dalton left. And i bloody well won't now either. I really do dislike it. So untelling. Characterless. If it ever comes to the tv then i will view, of course, but no pennies of mine shall go in those meaningless pockets again, i don't think. Unless he goes black, or becomes a Chinese woman, or a neanderthal robot from the future.

They've been lost for development or surprise for many many years though, haven't they. it's a commodity they have had to try and tell the beginning of once more as so much blandity has been spilled that no more newism can be found, i would say. And that all finished in the Brosnan era. The frivolity of the racist Moore days end with Grace Jones holding that rock door so gallantly for Bond to escape. Dalton had brutality and emotion in his perfect, anguished face. Almost humane. Cold war hostility. Skiing down a mountain in a cello case. Low profits, though, so intelligence departs and easy, lowly sales come in instead with Brosnan, that impersonable, loveless wart.

jeez i have recovered the boring rantability in my head.

The action was great in it, no denying it. But i was hoping for a bit more darkness and a more rounded character. The script in parts was awful and the second half was a snooze.

Watched it last night. I thought it was by far and away the worst Bond film ever. Too long a list of reasons, but simply, he's not Suave enough and Craig is too rugged.
