hi all,
just had a text of Moya, inviting me to write about what happened yesterday. we are collecting evidence now for a court case. cardiff city also offered help and advice, which is a good start.
anyway, here's my report:
arriving at wolves, first of all, noone is allowed to leave a coach, heaven knows why. even the 3 women on ours are not allowed to use the toilets, just a stonethrow away.
then the escort from the car park to the ground, coppers everywhere, a sea of yellow. pushing and yelling at everyone walking past them, a police dog almost bit me as the copper gave him a very long leash.
first half, not much to tell. then police come steaming from pitchside into the cardiff section, i heard something happened inside the stand, fair enough, but why then beat everyone who stands next to the aisle?
i wasnt inside the stand when it started, but according to witnesses it started when a bar refused to serve beer to fans. a bin was thrown and that was all that it needed to get riot police in.
the only fight inside the ground was started by the police against cardiff fans, who stood next to the aisles or walking up or down the aisles. before asking or telling them to step aside they went for the rather conventional method in whacking people with trunchons...
by the way, an 8 year old received a headwound, he was treated in hospital in the meantime. an 11 year old girl was pushed to the ground by a copper, cardiff fans jumped in to help and protect her. another girl of 14 was hit by a policeman, who obviously saw her as a hooligan...
also i heard from fans queing up for food and drinks, stating that some coppers were asking for trouble (quote:"come on you welsh b@s tards...")
of course it didnt help that a few cardiff fans tried to fight back the coppers, but what do you expect?
treat people like animals and they behave as such!!!
but the real thing was after the match, never seen such police brutality in my life before...
delay then 15 mins, 2nd half again no trouble between the fans, just chants.
match has ended, i left earlier than usual, overheard 2 policemen in a conversation, sounded to me like they were waiting for what came then.
unlike last year, when wolves were waiting outside for cardiff fans, no wolverhampton fan was looking for trouble. just like us, leaving the ground peacefully. we even had brief chats with wolves fans, no probs there.
police then decide to have a go and start pushing us in direction of our coaches. but before some of ours can move they draw their batons (those metal ones) and start whacking into us. the ones at the front started walking faster, but the ones who cannot run get it from those "heroes" in yellow.
some, like me, were then trapped between the fence and a burger van, so we couldnt get around. a whack is the result!
i saw one man with crutches who was pushed to the ground because he couldnt run fast enough and then he had it the batons from the keepers of peace...
no surprise some of us have the guts to try to protect our fellow supporters. the old bill then goes mental, starts steaming into us, severel cuts, headwounds etc are the result. alone on our coach 3 fans with open heads.
had a brief talk to the cardiff police, they were also shocked and said that their wolves colleagues are completely out of hand and way over the top.
at the coaches the same procedure, the men in yellow grab you, pull you out and can kick you and they represent the law... what a (bad) joke
the worst football hooligan does not behave like these *********(name of your choice).
they were thugs, i have seen youngsters whacked as in the chaos as they were looking for the right coach.
the grandfathers of those coppers must be turning in their graves, who successfully fought the nazis and secured freedom and democracy. and now their grandsons behave like the SS in action.
is that what you fought 2 world wars for? to be treated like this?
honestly, if a police force in germany would behave like wolves OB today, it would make the nationwide headlines. they would get flamed by all political parties and human right groups, as they werent stepping in to stop a riot, but starting one.
i have never ever seen such police brutality before. only on TV, in reports about dictatorships or in the 80s near stonehenge (Battle of the beanfield). only that the left our coaches in one piece. btw, all coaches were searched, every single bag was opened and searched, in my case a packet of soja milk (!!!) was smashed inside the bag.
i do hope the press will print the truth about today, and i am sure cardiff police will make a detailed report about how human beings were treated worse than animals.
i am not saying cardiff fans behave like angels or sing in boys choirs. but the last few seasons have shown that cardiff fans have changed. when did we have trouble at games? when we get attacked by opposition fans or the police. FACT!
i am neither a suicide bomber, a right wing extremist, a muslim fundementalist or a pedofile, just a football fan who like watching his team play. why do we get a worse treatment like the mentioned scum?
the hooligans of today were carrying shields and batons, wearing a bright yellow outfit with a helmet.
forget stone island, prada or burberry, lads...bright yellow jackets are the new trend!
i also do hope cardiff city fc will make a statement and condemn the events of today.
sorry if i sound extreme myself, but my blood is still boiling...
that could have happened to every club, not just cardiff. bout time us fans stand together and make a point. it is our game, i don't want a wannabe rambo to spoil my day out.

other accounts from people who have been there:
What happened today was a discrace to the police force as a whole. The Wolves stewards were talking to us and saying they were not getting involved in the half time bother as they were told the old bill were going to take control and they had no choice in the matter. After the game if we had behaved liked the West Midlands Police then we would have been labelled as 'animals' which I dare say we still will be. I seen children crying, fathers worried and verbal and physical abuse from people in uniform who seemed to think that a police badge gave them the right to do anything they wanted without the fear of any retrebution at all.
-------
A few of you may have seen me today. I was the one with the ridiculous headdressing on having been assaulted by the police. I was at the front on the fracas at half time because I wanted to get a cup of tea. There was a surge from behind and I fell forward. On my way to the floor I got caught full force across the back of the head with a truncheon from WMPs finest, and when on the floor was kicked in the back of the leg. I have the bruises and deep cut to the head to prove it. Thankfully someone took the thug's number - 5517 - and I will of course be taking it further.
I would imagine some will say we deserved what we got. I saw a woman get caught across the bridge of her nose for 'being there', the very same crime as mine. WMP were up for a ruck today and I for one know we've been in one.

I'm not going to comment on the half time incident as I was too far away from it, but on the out of the ground we was parked in the opposite direction to where the police wanted us to go. However becasue of the problems it was 5.20 and the car park closed at 5.30 so we had to go. Now the police said you can't come this way you need to go to the bus station and you will be escorted to your coaches or trains, but we wasn't on the coach or the trian and they couldn't get this through their heads. Now my mate Clare was kicking off as it was her car and they threatened to beat her with a baton first of all and then threatended to arrest her on the principle that she was "disturbing the peace" by simply asking them to let us through so we wouldn't be stuck in Wolves all night.
Anyways during all this my phone was going off and it was my mum phoning. Now there was some people behind us who weren't talking as kindly to the police as my mates so I didn't want to answer cause my mum might have got offended. Now after they finally let us through my phone went off and I said the words "jesus christ" as in for god sake wait a minute women, when the police grabbbed me by the coller and ripped my city shirt and jumper to bits and was about to put me in the police van. When I said to him he has no right he went to hit me with the baton before his supervisor stopped him who then told me to fu ck off you fat bas tard and then pushed me over and laughed! They wouldn't give me ID numbers or anything but my mates got pictures so I'm writing in. This is unbelivable what happened today.

Genuinely sorry for your fans
Whilst I know you have a resolute hard core element, the way the police chose to address the situation yesterday was scary. I am not saying the trouble a few of your fans caused underneath the stand (which no one else was aware of of course) was acceptable, but was there any need to create such a situation on the stand? Upto that point I had been very impressed by the way the huge police presence had prevented a repeat of last year, but I think they went over the top in a huge way injuring people who were just standing at a match and scaring the day lights out of the many innocent cardiff fans with kids etc. Awful just awful! You reap what you sow, so to the few idiots well you can have no complaints I suppose, but the question to ask is whether the police action was just, proportionate and necessary. I would say no on all 3 accounts.
Shame because it spoiled a good day for us, and upto then there was no real animosity. Was being kept well in check.

Guys, I completely sympathise with whats gone on.
I was at work all day yesterday and the shop was buzzing with news of it going off.
I heard what sparked it on the concourse was an 11 year old getting whacked with a baton, and then it snowballed. To be honest, I believe this story, because I've been away many times and Wolves have never acted like that on the count of there been an alcohol ban, whereas Wolves - Like Cardiff - would rightly go beserk at police brutallity towards women and children.
