Bluebirds eye Harding

Brighton full-back Dan Harding has emerged as the latest Cardiff target.
"We have an interest and are monitoring his progress, but no approach has been made yet," Cardiff boss Lennie Lawrence told the South Wales Echo.

England Under-21 man Harding is out of contract at the end of the season, but Brighton hope to keep the 20-year-old at the club.

Cardiff are also monitoring John Oster, Hibernian's Derek Riordan and Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Einarsson.

Einarsson, based in Norway, has been identified by Cardiff's European scouting system that has been targeting Scandinavia.

"We are looking to get into the Scandinavian market," said Lawrence.

If we got couple of hundred grand (unlikely I know) for Harding, I say sell him

Maybe its just me, but don't really rate him that highly, we've got cover, just think he's a bit lightweight and gives the ball away too often

I'd say give him a new contract, sell him to Cardiff and secure Nicolas. Everyone's a winner babe!

Harding, indeed, is accident-prone; but he did not put a foot wrong in the games with Forest and Sheffield Utd. He seems to be one of those players that managers rate but fans do not. I would rather see Mister Brighton & Hove Albion, Kerry Mayo, at left-back. It is always reassuring to see Mayo in the team. He is like a long-serving monarch during unstable times. There is not a better left-back than Mayo in the division.

Dan Harding still looks far too 'youth team' for my liking. Maybe he plays different for England U-21 but he don't impress that much for the Albion. Like Lammy says, flog him off to pay for Nicolas.

Harding's distribution is a little wayward, his tackling is better than any fullback we have had for years. He has pace and he times his tackles brilliantly. Give me a full back who can defend rather than an attacking one who can't anyday, especially at this level. His distribution will improve.

However, in the words of our England under-21 international (who we must keep): "I love it here. I've been here since I left school and I want to sign. I've got a house here and my family are here, so I don't see why I need to go anywhere else. (DH, The Argus, August 19th 2004)

Bless.

So much for his agent's attempts to talk up a bit of interest elsewhere. Agent must be WELL pleased with that quote :lolol:

Why would harding even think about joining Bardiff.

Perhaps because he would earn a lot more money and would get to play in a football stadium in front of far bigger crowds than he plays in front of at the moment?

Just a thought......

(PS: THEY ARE fighting relegation, not THERE fighting relegation.)

I was pondering the whys and wherefores of letting Ian Wright and Roy Keane go all those years ago, and came to the conclusion that they if we had signed them they wouldn't've reached their potential with us, they would've been sold for beans a la Dean Saunders.

If Harding goes, so be it; if he's not doing the business now, why hold on in the possibly vain hope that he becomes superb 5 years down the line?
