Calendar help required

My wife (iphone) & I (iPad) have decided to share our calendars.

However if I enter an event on her phone it updates to my iPad, but if I input it into my iPad it doesn't send it to her phone.

There is probably an obvious setting which I haven't switched on but cannot find it

So I'm hoping one of the good people of NSC will be able to help
