Cake and eat it!!!!

Am I the only one that is finding it hard to understand some of the threads on here at the moment. A lot of them seem to imply that the only option is to either win tonight or stay up. Why do we have to choose?

Yes we are playing crap football at the moment and lurking at the wrong end of the league but a couple of wins will see us moving clear of danger. Tonight is a 50-50 game and since it is a cup game can go either way.

So I for one want my cake and I want to eat it. A win tonight, a win in the final and I want to stay up.

I've never understood this, why would anyone want to own cake but not want to eat it? Is there a whole category of people out there I have never come across that want cake just for the sheer joy of ownership?
