Newcastle United winger Martin Brittain is training with Kilmarnock as he continues his search for a new club.

Brittain is likely to leave The Magpies before the transfer deadline and has already trained with Hull City and Brighton & Hove Albion in pre-season.

He has now headed north of the border in the hope of clinching a contract with SPL outfit Kilmarnock.

The 21-year-old has made eight appearances for Newcastle, starting just once, but is aiming to find a club where he can play regularly.

Killie boss Jim Jefferies is happy to hand Brittain the chance to prove his worth and hopes the young wide man lives up to his billing.

"Martin's CV is very impressive," Jefferies told the Daily Record. "You don't play in the Newcastle first team if you don't have something about you.

"The opportunity to stay was there for him, but he turns 22 in December and he wants first-team football.

"Newcastle are a very big club and the chances of playing when you have the likes of (Damien) Duff in front of you are limited.

"He's certainly worth a look and we'll do that over the next few days before having a chat on Friday to determine whether or not it's going to go any further

has to be said if I was in Brittains situation I wouldn't be hanging aorund on the off chance that McGhee might sign him in a months time maybe, I'd be off looking elsewhere see if I get a better offer.

If we really wante dhim we'd have offered him a deal by now.

This is getting ridiculous. What the f*** is going on with the triallists McGhee is bringing in during the summer ? Are we EVER going to get a worthwhile pre-season under our belts ? We either end up spunking a contract on the likes of Turienzo and Molango, or the triallist drifts off somewhere else and is sent on his way with a "he's not really what we're looking for" or "he's no better than what we have now" type quote.

Do we actually have a scouting network in place that prepares to bring in some VIABLE options for us to look at during pre-season ? Or is it all just done off the cuff about halfway through June ? What a load of shit.

i dread to think how our scouting network operates. how can we "scout" somebody, stick them on for a friendly and then turn around and say they weren't what we wanted?

something very bad happening at the club

A good question, and one I think we need an answer to.

Its funny to think of what McGhee believes we have and the sort of players on trial that aren't their betters. Sometimes feels as if he wants the pigs that snort the loudest and refuse to sneer at decisions made by Napoleon that Boxer and his kin prefer to ignore.

it will be far to f***ing late when we are in the bottom 6 after 10 games. No one wants to come here now . .. let alone in that situation

Those going to the forum need to ask some hard f***ing hitting questions

Sorry, i am mildly deformed in the past 12 hours with a vast influx of information and incomparative cerebral works. A thousand cupbaords have been opened to please and confuse me. I am warmly befuddled and internally deafened incoherent in every breath.

I don't like McGhee and the reasons for his dominant mind to fail to ever grow. I think.

I thought you were leaving early, Kinky.

Not good news. My optimism is slowly creeping to pessimism. The young lads will have to stand up and be counted.

Let us prove Alan Hansen wrong!

Just more proof (as if any were needed) the MM hasn't got the faintest idea what he's doing.

Good. McGhee didn't rate him, there is no point taking somebody on for the sake of it. If he can't impress against MK Dons in a friendly when he is playing for a contract, then he is not going to cut it in league one.

Bye Bye Britain
