I can't remember the exact details, perhaps someone on here can. I think it was a baseball team (possibly Chicago) that missed out on winning the championship. The offending ball (bad workmen blame their tools, so I'm told) was put up for auction, and the winner could decide what to do with it. I have vague recollections that it was put on display and blown to pieces............. Any enlightenment?
BTW I think it should be Beckham that should receive that fate. (Not really, before anyone jumps to his defence.)

ps, I've got a bit of Goldstone turf from last home game in real div one against Man city. any offers?!!

the ball was auctioned, and i believe it was indeed blown to bits by the lucky recipient![]()
