given the slight possibility of the game going on past 10pm tonight, and only about three trains, whats the bus situation from Falmer to Polegate/eastbourne. is there any? change at lewes? route numbers? a hope in hell of getting on one with the other 4980 fans going east?

Go into Brighton and get a 12. Last one leaves The Aquarium (Sealife centre) @11.27pm. if you miss that then there is a 12N @3.25 am.
Having said that I think you will find the trains will get you home. They will be runninhg shuttle trains to Lewes and the last Eastbourne train ffrom Lewes is around midnight
