I seem to remember reading that it wouldn't count if it came from a goal kick because it counts as an indirect free kick. Did the Bundesliga goal take a deflection of another player or am I just remembering the rules incorrectly?

it didnt take a diflection and you can score from a goal kick. It was a weird goal.
