There was a story in yesterday's Daily Star on Sunday:

Former Manchester City and Southampton Star Uwe Rolser is considering an offer to join second division Brighton until the end of the Season. Rosler, 35, who has recently beaten lung cancer is currently playing for Lillestrom in Norway. Rosler was recommended to Mark McGhee by Gordon Strachan who was impressed by the German strikers attitude when playing for the Saints.

Word of caution: This is the same paper who one week ago linked us with a loan move for Tugay!

Craig Hignett is a proven forward with a wealth of experience. After four seasons with Blackburn Rovers and finding himself getting continually lower in the pecking order he jumped at the opportunity to join newly promoted Leicester in the summer of 2003 on a free transfer.

Upon completion of the signing Foxes manager Micky Adams said: "I see Craig as a utility player who can play in a variety of roles - up front, midfield or out wide.

"He has got a good scoring record as well and has scored goals at every level including the Premiership. In fact he scored on his final appearance for Blackburn last season.

"So he will give us plenty of options and will be a very useful addition to the squad because of his versatility."

Liverpool born Hignett joined Blackbutn Rovers in the summer of 2000 after being named as Barnsley's player of the season for 1998/99. The attacking midfielder scored an incredible 20 goals that season and his eye for the net - not to mention combative nature - was exactly why Souness bought him.

The player began his professional career at Crewe, but it was at Middlesbrough that he really established himself as a Premiership name. Limited first team opportunities convinced him to make the switch to Barnsley where he proved that Boro should have tried harder to hang on to him. Heartbreak was to come in the playoff final though, when Barnsley were eliminated by Ipswich.

That convinced Hignett to try his luck at a new club and duly made the £2.25 million switch to Ewood Park where he impressed teammates with his dedication and attacking midfield play.

In 2001/02, Hignett played 29 games and scored 8 goals, bravely delaying an achilles tendon operation until Rovers were safe from relegation. As soon as they had avoided the drop, Hignett's season was over, and he underwent the operation, with the aim of being ready for the new season, when he would again be an important member of the first team squad.

However Hignett struggled to get back in the team with the likes of Tugay, Duff, Thompson and Dunn competing for places in the midfield and the former Middlesbrough decided to join Coventry on loan in January 2003 in search of regular games.

A quality all round player, the signing of Hignett, contributed to Micky Adam's bolstering of the Leicester squad as they prepared for the Premiership and his contribution in the 2003/04 campaign could prove to be vital.

:clap2: Sounds good to me...

And while you're at it Micky, I'd love to see Paul Brooker come back on loan as well please.
