I see Pride 2012 is on September 1st. Presumably something to do with the Olympics?

So we can be sure we won't have a home match on the 1st, or the following weekend, which is international weekend.

I think it is always that date and it impacts whether we are at home or not, they changed it last year so we could kick off the season at home because of the excitment of the AMEX, so wouldnt be surprised if away 1st game this year

Eh? As the O/P said, Pride isn't until September this year so it has no impact on the opening game. No official word yet, but I think you can be quietly confident that neither my employer nor the rail companies will agree to Pride being on the same day as an Albion home game, so make your arrangements.

My guess is this means we'll be away on the first day of the season. I think if you look at most seasons, let's say if you start at home you will then play two away matches, one on the following Saturday and one three days later on the Tuesday night. Then you'll be at home again two weeks after the first match. If we know the season starts on August 18th and that we have to be away on September 1st, our start must surely be:

August 18th - away
August 25th - home
August 28th/29th - home
September 1st - away

Unless the August bank holiday weekend threw a spanner in the works, given that we don't tend to play at home on those dates. Not to say it couldn't be moved to a Friday, say, but still a possibility.

Surely we can't just request to NEVER play at home on a bank holiday though? There are four every season. We can't avoid them all surely. I reckon they'll force us to play but if we really can't manage it they'll change it to a Friday/Tuesday night.

Potentially five. But the problem ones are May and August, because of the weather (ie the first hint of sunshine brings thousands of pissed Londoners into town), and the trains, and what Leeds did to Bournemouth all those years ago.

Christmas, Boxing Day and New Years Day aren't really issues I suppose.

Why don't either The Albion or even us on NSC put a float in? Can't deny it'd be fun!!!

Surely if we have a home game, it can me moved to the Sunday? Pride is only a one day event, isn't it? I understand the Police can dictate dates & times, but the train companies?! Do they have that much clout when it comes to dictating the date & times of games?

Train Companies seem to have a book of 1001 excuses when it comes to providing a (public) service.
