Although born and raised in rural England, Charlie Shorney's work as the valet for a wealthy family had enabled him to travel. His worldliness spawned an ambitious plan; with half the family silver in tow, Shorney was on his way to meet his fiancée Marguerite and start one of the first taxi cab companies in New York City. Inspired by the notion of sailing on the world's greatest vessel, Shorney had changed his ticket so that he could ride on Titanic. It was a fatal decision. Titanic was headed directly into an ice field 80 miles long.

I was born in Rochdale, lived in Brighton for 25 years and now live in Southwick, does that mean I have to turn in my season ticket and burn my shirts? :dunce:

Yeah but I was'nt born here was I, so surely I am bandwagon jumping. I mean when I went to our first game we were in the top division taking on Man Utd and we won, so thats bandwagon jumping of the highest order.

What about my grandfather, born in Burgess Hill and lived all around the country before settling in Brighton after the war. He served the club and supporters club many years before he died in various roles, should he have not been allowed to support Brighton and Hove Albion?

My point is that it shouldnt matter where you are from, or where you now live, all that matters is that you support the might stripes from no matter how far away, and go through those same emotions that we all do win, lose or draw.

A long way away
ive had no direct association with brighton since the late 70s, but im still brighton through and through, and my wife and i hardly ever miss an away game, it does cost us an absolute fortune, (mainly cos we choose to stay away in hotels on the saturday night as well !!!) but we love following the albion, (even tho cardiff city is about 15 miles away !!! :lolol: :lolol: )

as a new member of NSC, ireally do hope to meet up with some of you at future away games, and we will attemt to make it to any meets that might take place.

cheers.....tony

Wait a minute Heron's Ghyll, isn't that near Uckfield, surely couldn't have been a Brighton Fan then, I mean, that's nearly in Surrey isn't it.
