Des's sign-off line from his Euro 2004 Diary.

ITV's former head of football, Jeff Farmer, rings too and there are messages from other friends and colleagues. I remain totally unemotional about the whole thing. Just another major event coming to an end.

I will feel it in August when there is no Premiership programme to do. But I will miss the banter and the laughs with some of the most fabulous people I have worked with.

Greece are the European Football Champions. Brighton for the Premiership.

Top bloke, anybody remember him walking towards the North Stand on the pitch at half time at the Goldstone? Unless my memory has gone completely I seem to remember him on the pitch with Jimmy Hill.

Yep it was half time against Millwall in the 1991 play offs 'Jimmy Jimmy show us your chin'
