Liam Bridcutt (pictured) says Albion chief Gus Poyet will manage in the Premier League
LIAM BRIDCUTT believes Albion boss Gus Poyet is destined for a top job in the Premier League.
The Seagulls midfielder hopes Albion, under their charismatic manager, will soon join today’s FA Cup opponents Arsenal in the top-flight of English football.
But Bridcutt is convinced Poyet is good enough to get there anyway.
He said: “Gus has had a great career as a player and will have a massive career as a manager.
“His determination and high standards is brilliant. It rubs off on to the players every day.
“He doesn’t want to be a Championship manager for the rest of his life. “It is only a matter of time before Gus goes on to bigger and better things.”
Bridcutt, below, spent his formulative years in the youth teams and reserves at Chelsea.
It was there that he played under another bright, young manager in Brendan Rodgers, who is now at Liverpool after spells at Reading and Swansea.
Bridcutt, 23, said: “I have been very fortunate with the managers I have had. Brendan Rodgers is quite similar to Gus in a way in that he is very driven, determined, willing to learn.
“The progress he has made in his career has been excellent and has proved that hard work can pay off.
“It is only a matter of time before Gus gets the same opportunities to manage a top club.”
