Today's letters page in the Arsegas accuses everyone in favour of Falmer of behaving like spoilt brats.

He says that everyone who voted YES in the referendum should pay £100 'as a sign of sincerity', and that Atilla's Falmer Pond poem should be sold and would raise a fiver.

That's Brian Beck, Highdown Road, Lewes.

everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. That is what a letter page is all about!

It is an interesting point though Dave. Are we behaving like spoilt brats about Falmer? What reasons does this chap have for drawing that conclusion?

Because we deem fit to automatically have a stadium justbecause we have a football team in a city without a stadium. Not getting it so far (to the enemy) it looks like we're throwing our toys out the pram....which we are!

It's a very good letter to be honest. His point about seeing how sincere the yes voters are by asking them for £100 was interesting. My guess is that about 300 out of the 60,000 would stump up.

Some anti Falmer people present very well thought out and reasoned arguments. The pro Falmer lobby just tend to come up with 'it's ok, we'll get it'.

I think his point, which a lot of people who I talk to who have no interest in football is that they saw the sending of flowers and valentine cards to Prescott as a pathetic childish gesture. I think that was what he was getting at.

Interestingly a chap I was chatting to who works for the council was muttering that there was disquiet in the ranks about the "donation" of the land to the Albion at Falmer when local hospices and social groups had had their funding slashed. Selling the land at the market rate so getting in funds for much needed cash was muted.

having said all that the leadership of the council Mr Bodfish is firmly behind Falmer so it was probably some bean counters moaning

And I am entitled to mine. And I think he is talking like a prat, ignorant of the fact that his own town would benefit from this stadium. So there. :p

In all seriousness, I think Brighton fans have conducted themselves with immense calm and dignity in the face of some extreme provocation and stupidity. Our campagins have been witty, newsworthy and effective. And this is since 1995. It is something of which we should all be immensely proud.
