£99 at the Albion would buy you, what, four matches?

And they could even be in League One next season.

Shows that they CARE about their supporters and show why they have the best average attendance in the bottom two leagues (bar Leeds and Leicester)

I wouldn't go so far as to say they care, but they do recognise a marketing opportunity when they see one, and have taken a calculated gamble to raise revenue and increase their support base.

They might be in the bottom division, but the 12,000 season tickets they've sold is all guaranteed income, and the bigger crowds might just spur their players on to promotion, thus ensuring more money next season.

Plus those 12,000, whether they attend every week or not (I'd guess not, looking at their stadium on TV every other Sunday), will still splash out on shirts, scarves, cup tickets etc, so it's a winner all round.

Of course you do need the capacity to be able to do this.

Nevetheless, we have nearly 3,000 empty seats most weeks and a new stadium apparently on its way and we need to fill it with punters. Time for Ken Brown to step up to the plate. Personally I'm not expecting much - he's clearly not very good is he?

Moan moan moan.

They have a 25,000 capacity stadium. Their average, before this deal, was around 5,000.

You do the maths.

£99 * 10,000 Season ticket sales = £990,000

£450 * 2,200 Season ticket sales = £990,000

Even though we dont sell that many season tickets, we still make more money than Bradford will do if they sell 10,000 season tickets next season.

Having said that, the board should realise the love for the club if falling, the attendances are dropping are the football is rubbish. But in all reality, the best they are going to come up with is hold the prices for another season

You're right, their capacity is 25136.

A club falls from the Premiership to League Two in six years = drastic action.
I know what it says on footballgroundguide but that's got to be wrong. They NEVER got 25k for a Premiership match. They were getting about 18,500 for the big games.

Penultimate Premier game was 22,057 against Liverpool.

Capacity went up slightly following season.

Ridiculous. People just love to moan! Like has already been said, Bradford's ground holds 25,000 ours not only doesn't hold 10,000, but season ticket holders, how many roughly, 4,000?

The board did try and do something to lower the ticket prices to get new fans in, under21's and under 16's got very good deals. I know loads of people who didn't have a season ticket last year but because of the cheap prices this season have now taken up the offer.

I'm sure the club would love to lower their prices for their fans, but they probably can't. Do these people moaning have any idea how to run a buisness? Do they have any idea how much it costs just to put on one match? Park and ride, stewards, not to mention the huge fee for actually playing at Withdean!

I think we have 4000-5000 STH's currently Brett, from memory (and can't be bothered to look up Insider's response to check) it was about 3500 last season. The average cost should be below £450 for this season - I paid £415 in E Block.
Bradford have been running this sort of deal for a few seasons now; I think their average gate now is around 12500, approx 5000 up on the last season at the "old" prices - might not all be down to STH's though.

it's great though, bradford is a poor town, but a big one.

if you have the infrastructure in place to support these cheap season tickets then it's brilliant (see hudds and blackburn rovers). i hope in 10 years that we will look back on what Bradford did as a fundamental turning point in raising crowd numbers (and general community involvement) in lower league football.

but i suppose you need a ground first, and no debt too, otherwise everyone would do it right?

if they are selling season tickets to home fans for £99.00 what would they be charging the away fans?

i think the worst thing we did was sell those 5 and 10 year Season tickets. Means we can never do a deal on season tickets without people kicking off.
Personally despite the fact i have a ST I'd rather tickets were £10 and we had a bigger crowd. Surely the extra crowd would cover some loss and the rest of the loss could be made up by the directors.

Something needs to be done as hardcore fans are turning their back on the club, God knows how the floating fans feel right now

Bradford fan here.
Just come across this thread.

The season ticket scheme is great for clubs that attract a reasonable amount of fans, like ourselves.

We've actually made a profit for the first time since the Premiership thanks to our boards inititive.

The first time we issued the season ticket scheme to the fans was last season (07-08). Our season tickets where £138 for adults and £69 for under 16's and under 11's went free. We also sold 2,000 tickets for the luxury suites of which cost £350.

We sold 9,500 adult tickets and 2,000 of those where for the suites remember. The rest of the total figure of 12,200 ST where made up of free tickets and 2,000 or so under 16 tickets at £69 a go.

So,

7,500 x £138 = £1,035,000
2,000 x £350 = £700,000
2.000 x £69 = £138,000

Total = 1.9 million. Not bad for a league two club.

This season however. The adult tickets where £150 and we also sold another 2,000 ST for the suites at £400 a go. The under 16 tickets where £75 and under 11's yet again went free.

We sold 10,800 season tickets this season and 8,800 of those where adults. The rest where made up of under 16's and free tickets for the under 11's.

So,

6,800 x £150 = £1,020,000
2,000 x £400 = £800,000
1,500 x £75 = £112,500

Also, our average this season at home is 12,800, meaning we have on average of 2,000+ paying in on the day every home fixture.

2,000 x £20 = £40,000 (per home game)
40,000 x 23 = £920,000

So we've had a ticket income this season of around £2,852,500.

Things arn't looking so rosey for next season due to the fact we're absolutey kack and fans arn't going to pay whatever price to watch this shite in this league for another season next year.

We have sold 10,000 season tickets for next season already and they wern't all £99 like you've proclaimed.

The £99 offer came in as a limited offer for the top tier of the Bfd End where only around 600 where avaliable. The rest of the season tickets within Valley Parade are £87.50 for U 16's. £175 for adults and £400 for the suites.

£99 x 600 = £59,400
9,400 x £175 = £1,645,000

Total = £1,704,400.

Then take off 1.2 million a year due to our ground overheads and it's far from rosey but i'd prefer to see 13,000 in the ground in league two than 8,500.

A scheme like this could work wonders for yourselves IMO.
