Anyone any good at these things?

I've had to do one at work recently, but fell slightly short of where I
want to be, so have set myself a target of a month to get up to scratch.

So, what, aside from more bleep tests, which I'll obviously do anyway, is the best way to train for these damn things, to make sure I pass (and don't die trying)? I'm sure, amongst NSC's many talented individuals, there must be some personal trainers/fitness freaks/Olympic marathon runners on here who can advise.

I hate bleep tests with a passion. I find the best way to improve stamina/fitness, because I hate running and gyms, is just to find a sport you enjoy doing and do it once or twice (or more if you've got time!) a week.

Circuit training, I reckon. Whilst I am more of a trundling cricketer nowadays, I used to do a lot of circuits at Uni and it was awesome. Exercises every muscle you can think of and forces you to sweat out all the toxins.

Doing these alot at football training at the moment, it's quite easy to improve your score if you pace yourself.

Trick is not to turn the same way everytime aswell so you don't get dizzy.

Keep out of the coffee/donut shops for a start!!

Not bad, four replies before a police/donut answer crept in ;)

I run for much longer on the treadmill than I have to in the bleep test, so I don't think I'm THAT unfit, but haven't done a bleep test before this week in about four years. Which is probably why I can still feel the effects today.

The killer is the fact that you have to get faster as you get more knackered, which goes against every human instinct, does it not?

on a treadmill increase the pace every two minutes or something until you're at a near sprint?

Can't stand the bleep test, it is fine if you are a bit of a sprinter or on the short side, it is bloody difficult for someone who is taller and more used to a bit of distance than short sprints and turns...plus I reckon it shags your ankles and knees.

I'm not telling you that on here, for fear of being forever cast as the Chief Wiggum of NSC
:lolol:

I will say only that it was above 8 but less than 10 ;)

Think I got 9, but I couldn't be sure. I remember giving up early because I had to improve next time. Oh and yes I do know thats cheating.

Ah the bleep test, use to love that at school! My record was 15.3 which was .something away from the school record.
