Hello folks,
My Girlie and I fancy goin to the black forest in August for an outdoor activity type holiday, swimming ,cycling, walking etc.

Has anyone been and can recommend a suitable area which is reasonably cheap as we'll definately be on a tight budget.

Thanks alot

I think you are going to the wrong country if you want cheap. Germany is never cheap at the best of times and with the £ plummeting against the Euro, it'll be even worse. But the Black Forest is a beautiful part of Europe, my partner and I have been 4 times over the past 10 years. The best stay was in a small town called Radolfzell, which is on Bodensee (Lake Constance). From memory, there was a fabulous beer garden right in the centre of the town which served huge plates of food and excellent beer that all seemed relatively cheap. The best thing, tho, was it had a huge screen in the garden with the Euro Championships on. Cycling round the lake is an enjoyable and not too demanding experience.

I'm taking the family on our first Eurocamp hol in June to Lindau on Bodensee. Just under 400 quid for a week in a 'luxury' tent :lolol: Always used to go Eurocamping with my folks in the mid 80s.

Also going to Munich for a 3 days after. promised my eldest who is 4 that we'll go to BMW Welt.

Flying to Freidrischafen on Bodensee with Ryanair for next to nothing.

Really looking forward to it. Never considered Germany as a holiday destination.

As far I can recall, trains from Freidrischafen run totally around the lake, also the base for the first big balloony thing flight...........................
