Border country.East Preston.
Sussex IS Brighton.And thats it.

What you want to do is go further East along the coast where a magical world opens up in front of you.......

Best: Eastbourne (bias as its my hometown although i know its pretty shit really)
Worst: Got to be Hailsham or Hastings!!!!

Friday night in Boothill-on Shit, aka Bexhill-on-sea! Naff pubs full of inbred pikies with murder in their eyes. Divorcee's who wish they were 30, dress as if they were 20, claim to be 35, and are really over 40! The one & only nightclub is a seventies timewarp! Godawful place, avoid like the plague.

I worked in Crawley for about 6 years and although it is a dump there are shitloads of slags that make going out there kinda worth while.

Apart from Brighton...that's a difficult one.

Worst will have to be Peacehaven. Live there and hate it. 2nd will have to be Seaford for the Trek nightclub. Sleezy, cheesy (peazy) and crp.

Best is difficult if it has to still be in Sussex. Hove? Had plenty of student nights in Eastbourne but that was a few years ago now.

Absolutely the very worst EVER night out in Sussex was years ago when I was a student. A trip out to a "disco" at what was then Chelsea College of Physical Education in Darley Road, Eastbourne.

We were victims of a mate with a "good idea".

That word of encouragement he gave me at the time still sticks in my memory:-

"OK. She may not be much to look at. But she plays hockey for England".

LOL, the trek, I used to live more or less next door to that. Oh what a horrid place. Mind you Seaford itself is pretty bad on the whole. Peacehaven, I used to live there too, yeah bad I know but not as bad as Newhaven & Seaford. At least Peacehaven has "Bigmouths" (best burgers on the south coast!)

Brighton's good obviously. Worthing used to be OK when there were a few decent music venues (for local bands) but that's gone downhill lately.

Crawley's frightening. Horsham's boring. Not sure which is worse........

Im sorry but who on earth can dis Seaford over Peacehaven. The Trek is part of the fabric of the town and with plenty of boozers for a small place the night out can be a good un. Peacehaven is about a s boring as you can get. My choice would be Worthing just ahead of Eastbourne.

Best has to be Brighton - where else?

Worst: I remember a night when we drove to Bognor to see a band that the NME said were playing there. Got to the club, found it was shut and the pub next to it was shut to. Drove along the front and everything there was shut to. It was about 7.30 on a pissing wet weekday in November, I was in Bognor bloody Regis with everything closed and I couldn't believe life could be so miserable (I was only 17).

Second has to be Crawley. I saw the Clash play the leisure centre; great gig. But the support act got bottled off and their were skinheads stomping through the audience giving people a pasting for the hell of it. Fella next to me got a punch in the face for just standing there.

Left for the station and saw various spots of blood on the pavement.

Never been back to Crawley in the evening since.

At the foot of the downs
Brighton is by far the best, with I'd say Crawley by far the worst, though Hastings/Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill arn't far off..

Eastbourne isn't bad, except it's dangerous to walk around intoxicated with so many stupid teenagers in laughably tiny but souped up cars hooning around the streets.
