Making my Amex debut today and my old man has been asking me what the options are regarding travel to and from the ground from Brighton.

How regularly do the trains run from Brighton-Falmer and on the return route after the game. My old fella said the club shop people were not very helpful in this regard. He said they told him you have to get on the p.m. train but that was about it.

The other option is my brother's wife dropping us all off in her wagon but I have been told the roads are an absolute mare around the ground on matchdays.

Any advice most welcome

Appreciate the link Titus but it was more of a train or car kind of question. You can't really communicate well with a train timetable either. Oh yes and I am also being a lazy bollocks.

There is an extra "shuttle" running between brighton and lewes to increase capacity.
I go the other way to Eastbourne and last couple of games I have stayed and had a drink whilst watching the scores come in. going to the station that bit later and the queues have died down. I'd rather be inside with a pint or hot chocolate than stood on a windy, rainy queue.

How often do these shuttles run to Falmer? I'm guessing they must be pretty frequent if only four cars are taking thousands of fans there. Am getting to Brighton station at 12:30. Cheers

Go by train - much easier - the trains run frequently - you may have to queue for ten minutes but it's really fine - oh and enjoy the Amex!!!!

If you're getting to Brighton station that early you'll be absolutely fine. It's worth getting to the ground relatively early as you can wander round. You could try and get into dicks bar, go into the club shop, see the teams arriving in the west stand etc. It might be a bit slow after the game, so hang around and have a beer.

Thanks for the info guys. Have had a 24-journey from hell from Tokyo and despite not sleeping for the entire journey and staying up until 10 p.m. last night I woke up at 3 this morning and have awful jetlag. Will not let it ruin my day though. Plan to go mad in the club shop before the game and stuff myself on all these legendary pies I keep hearing about (that's if they're not sold out three hours before kickoff!). Am in the family section in the East Stand (?) I believe. Three more hours before I leave Chislehurst for the big day out. Bring it on!

You can hardly miss your station on a train from London to Brighton though!

As has been said before, the trains are alright from Brighton to Falmer -It depends on where you're travelling from? I park up at Portslade and get the train in from there (i could go from Littlehampton, but it's a pain to park there).
Getting back will probably take longer, so that'll be a good time to hit the shop or Dick's Bar.
