Who is it, in your opinion?

I guess it would have to be Sidwell wouldn't it?

What about the current crop? Do any of them have the potential to be Premiership players?

Mc Shane has gone backwards since then... than again so has Sidwell....... willprobably get flamed for suggesting Iwelumo but is a key championship player now..... and there's Crofts but maybe too early to say.

In present squad....

Lua Lua is obvous and Caskey..... jury out on most of the rest. All good league 1 but Championship.... not sure.

In the current crop: Bennett and LuaLua

As people have said, McShane was class for us, but then hasn't really set the world alight since he left.

But, this is a thread about the best player WE have had since Zamora. And based on how good they were for us, I think I'd have to go with McShane.

Am i remembering Simon Morgan with rose tinted specs (if that expression is possible)

Not at all, he was an outstanding defender, and to my mind one of the main reasons we got promoted the season he was with us. Everyone went on about Cullip, but that season, Morgan was streets ahead.

It was a real shame injuries got the better of him, because I still think we'd have done a lot better the following season if we'd still had him at the back.

Due to his age and fitness, he was never going to go on to anything better after he was with us, like Zamora did, but he was still a great player IMHO, and could have become a real favourite if only we'd had him for more than one season.

CKR had the ability, Mcshane was okay and hard working but lacks pace and seemed to get found out in the Prem.
